Brown Sugar Simple Syrup

Making homemade brown sugar simple syrup is very easy, and the process is identical to that of standard simple syrup. See the quick, foolproof approach to getting the desired sweetness and consistency below.

Ingredients:
3 cups water
3 cups brown sugar

Instructions:

  1. First, heat water in a saucepan, but avoid boiling.
  2. Mix in brown sugar and continue to heat until all sugar is dissolved.
  3. Once dissolved, remove from heat and let cool. Store excess simple syrup in the refrigerator and in a sealable container.

Tips:
Any 1:1 ratio of sugar and water will do, but 3 cups is a good starting point if you’re just looking to have some on hand.

If you’re looking to make a certain amount for a recipe, use the desired amount in both water and sugar. For example, if you want 2 cups of simple syrup, use 2 cups of water and sugar. Avoiding boiling helps to keep the ratio consistent and prevents any loss of liquid.
